How We Trained 500 Educators Across Machakos County

In May 2026, MNPT completed its most ambitious training cycle to date — reaching over 500 primary and secondary school teachers across Machakos County with structured health education workshops.

What the Training Covers

Each session runs over two days and equips teachers with practical knowledge in four core areas: HIV and AIDS awareness, mental health first response, nutrition and hygiene, and communicable disease prevention. Crucially, the curriculum is designed for the classroom — teachers leave with lesson plans, discussion guides, and the confidence to open conversations that many previously avoided.

Why Teachers?

A teacher in Machakos County interacts with 30 to 60 students every single day. When that teacher understands how HIV is transmitted, how to recognise signs of mental distress in a child, or how handwashing prevents disease — that knowledge reaches hundreds of households every term. MNPT’s model is built on this multiplier effect.

What Participants Are Saying

“Before this training I would change the subject whenever students asked about HIV. Now I have the facts, the language, and the confidence to address it properly.” — Teacher, Kangundo Sub-County

The next training cycle is scheduled for August 2026. Schools wishing to nominate teachers can contact us through the Contact page.
