MNPT was established approximately 20 years ago as a community-based initiative to address stigma and discrimination among teachers and learners affected by HIV and AIDS.
Machakos Network of Positive Teachers CBO was established approximately 20 years ago as a community-based initiative aimed at addressing stigma and discrimination among teachers and learners affected and infected by HIV and AIDS.
Over time, the organisation has expanded its focus to include learners and community members, strengthening inclusion and promoting health, education, and social well-being across Machakos County.
MNPT is guided by a clear vision and mission rooted in community service, dignity, and inclusion for all.
Our mission is to build a stigma-free community through awareness, education, empowerment, and support for people affected and infected by HIV and AIDS.
We work with teachers, learners, and community members across Machakos County to reduce discrimination, strengthen health systems, and empower individuals to lead dignified lives.
To achieve a society where quality life skills are promoted and stigma and discrimination are eliminated among teachers, learners, and the wider community.
We envision a Machakos County where every teacher, learner, and community member lives with dignity, access to information, and freedom from stigma.
MNPT was founded approximately 20 years ago as a community-based organisation to address stigma and discrimination against teachers and learners living with HIV and AIDS in Machakos Sub-County.
Over the years, MNPT has grown from a small teacher support network into an eight-programme organisation reaching over 1,000 beneficiaries through school-based outreach, mentorship, and community health campaigns.
Since our founding, MNPT has reached thousands of teachers, learners, and community members across Machakos County through targeted programmes and sustained outreach.
“For over twenty years we have worked to ensure that no teacher or learner in Machakos faces stigma alone. Education and awareness are the most powerful tools we have.”
“The mentorship sessions changed how I talk about HIV in my school. Students now ask questions openly — that would not have happened before MNPT came.”
MNPT's work touches teachers, learners, and families across Machakos County. Here is what those we serve have to say.
